Under The Radar: Thumb

Social networking has exploded to more than just chatting and liking people’s photos. There are communities to discuss deals, jobs and even parking spots. This app brings a unique angle to the social networking scene. Thumb is a mini social network of a different kind. It gives you the ability to ask a growing community for their opinions and any question or issue you may have. It also gives you the ability to give your opinion to others seeking opinions, help or suggestions.

The 2 main features of the app are to “Ask for Opinions”, & to “Give Your Opinion.” When you “ask for opinions”, you have to pair it with an image. The image can be an existing photo, a new photo, or you can search online via the app for a particular photo. Then, you must pick between 2 sets of categories, Everyday & Serious. Once this is done, you click next & choose your Target. So you’ll then choose, whether you want you question to be public, a target of male or female, or both; you can also choose to send private questions to particular thumb friends or contacts on your phone.

When choosing to “Give your opinion,” you will be taken to the vote tab and a random question will appear, but only after taping on the image. Once clicking on the image and seeing the question, you have the option to leave your response in the comment area, and to vote the question thumbs up or thumbs down depending on your interest level, or leave it neutral.  You can also decide to not answer the question if you don’t really care for it.

When you ask questions, people actually leave comments and you can individually respond to these. Default settings will give you a notification of these responses via your notification bar. You can find these responses via “Your questions” under the ‘Results’ tab.  Respectively, your responses are under “Your Comments”, under the ‘Results’ tab.

Your account is rated via how many stars you receive for the questions you ask and or the responses you give to people, whether as a reply to a comment they’ve made to you, or the initial reply to a question. There’s also an option to generally thumbs up someone’s account or thumbs it down.

To sign up for an account you have 3 options. You can choose to use your existing Twitter or Facebook account, or you can use an existing email address and create a new password for your Thumbs account. On your profile you can upload a profile picture & fill out information about your Bio, Location and Relationship status, if you want to.

Thumb can be very useful if you want a quick opinion about idea. Maybe you need a quick opinion on an outfit you are wearing. Perhaps there is a relationship question you may want to target to males or females without the drama of your Facebook friends or relatives. The Thumb community is here to give you good and honest feedback. Also if you are someone who is very opinionated or you know someone who always likes to give their “2 cents” then please download this app. I think you will find answers and entertainment in Thumb.

Thumb is available free via both Google Play Store & iTunes App Store.
